Going to Nepal

Joe's wild, zany adventures to Nepal and at home.

I'm going back. Booked my flight last night. I leave 25 October and return 9 November. I'm interested to see what the country is like as compared to the last time I was there. Kevin has threatened to join me. That would be fun, to see how they treat a guy who is 6'6" (2m). Sure would attracted alot of attention. I don't know I'm going to do while I'm there, but I know that it'll be fun.

Had a very exciting weekend. Alex and Michelle got married and the whole damn clan was in town. I think that I'm still recovering. The ceremony was in the Berkeley Botanical Gardens in the Redwood Grove. Very appropriate for the two of them, as they both love the outdoors. There were about 60 people in attendance, including my all of my cousins. All four cousins with kids had them there. It was nice to see the next generation of kids growing up.
The frightening confluence of people I love to spend time with happened at this wedding. Darren, Mikkel and Lick were all there. We partied till 3:30 in the morning. I hadn't been out that late since last summer in Europe with Mikkel. It was worth it. After the reception we went to Lukas Taproom in downtown Oakland. Cool bar, but they charge a $10 cover on the weekends. I enjoyed watching people who hadn't spent much time together, really seem to be engaged in getting to know one another. Maybe it was just that we all know Alex and Michelle, or perhaps that we'd had too much to drink, but everyone got along so well.

I think that I've got a cold. My head is all stuffed up, my ears need popping, and my body feels sore. I keep thinking that taking up a serious coffee habit will help aleviate some of the problems, but I know that it won't. Spent this past weekend in Tahoe, sleeping, eating, swimming and rock climbing. It was my brother's bachlor/bachlorette party. We had a great time. There was no drunkeness (mikkel's coming to town, I'm saving up for his visit), we play trivial persuit on Saturday night, and I should have won. It was the ninties edition, I gots the pop culture knowledge. I lost because I didn't know stupid questions about chat rooms. Whatever. My dominance was clear.
Yesterday I started cleaning out boxes in my room. Going through old financial statements and papers. The plan is to go through all the boxes and figure out what I'm actually going to need to keep packing and moving on to the next space for the rest of my life. Seppo and Ei-Nyung inspired to do this, they cleaned up the living room over the weekend, it looks great. Ei-Nyung is giving me an old desk of her's to put in my room, which wil be great, then I'll have a place to put my computer, and my room will really start to come together.
I'm trying to get back to Nepal in October. I found a ticket for $1200, round trip. That's so much cheaper than anything else that I'd found. Now to arrange the time off of work.

Man, I feel awful today. My head hurts, my body aches, then of course, there is my collar bone. It is just a low hum of mild soreness. I can't figure out why I feel this way, I slept well, haven't worked out in 5 weeks. Maybe that's it, my body is getting sore to remind me that it's time to start getting out again.
What else...We've won round one versus the rats in the house, but we're paying for using rat poison. They're dying in the walls and it's starting to smell a little. The ants have also begun there usual summer invasion looking for water. I used my shop-vac to suck up the little bastards yesterday, that was fun. Of course I froze them first using part of a can of compressed air. Sorry Seppo, that's just to much fun. I think I'll buy a case of it and just reak havoc all over them outside as well, that or I'll use the ant stakes.
It's to early. I think that I'm going to try and go to sleep earlier from now on. Maybe 9 or 9:30. 4:20 comes damn early these days.
