Sure, I need to.....

Update my blog more often, but there are times when I can't think of anything interesting to write about. Oh, so here's something. It, uh, "recently" came to my attention that I'm going to be an Uncle. The impending addition to our family will be arriving this week. I won't go into details describing what they're doing in order to accelerate the arrival, (mostly because I get a little quesy thinking about it) but I'm gonna be an Uncle. OH, and this past week one of my best friend's wives gave birth to a 9lb 5oz baby boy. And then next month another of my best friend's girlfriend is having their baby. I used to think that I wanted kids, not so sure anymore. I guess with K&K having their son, I'll learn a little about what it's like having kids. A friend of mine ( you know who you are) has told me that when you friends start having kids, it changes the relationship you have with them. I totally agree. How could it not, right? One day you're hanging out, running a few times a week together (robes) and then WHAMO, changing dipers, late nights, early mornings, dirty shirts, funny smells and really expensive crap for your kid consumes your life. And don't me started on how other members of the family get really excited. Sure it's very exciting, but wow, you're not having the kid. I'm sure that I'll love my nephew, but K, just putting it out there now, I haven't changed a diaper yet in my life, and I don't plan on it until I've got my own, if I decided to have chillins'. (secretly i'm pretty damn excited about k&k kid, but must remain calm, to many worked up people. there's a phone tree for things that are happening. call me when i can see the child). Life keeps moving foward.

Seriously?

Cruising YouTube as I do every(day) once in a while, I came across this:

This is as bad as Shaq, The SF 49'ers, any of the sportsmen/women who decided that since that had the good fortune to have the skills to excell at one particular disipline that they could excell at another. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing a footie player being featured in a music video, but not doing the rapping. You want to hear a rapper? Check out Lyrics Born, DJ Shadow, Latyrix or anyone who seriouslly devotes themselves to putting out a good flow. Saul Williams comes to mind. Blackalicious.
Clint Dempsey, I'll buy a ticket to watch you play footie, but not rap. Show me how to flow down the field, you can't show me how to flow on stage.

What else has been up? I've been spending a fair amount of time the past few weeks working on my core, just trying to get stronger for climbing. The gym has a pair of gymnastic rings. I've been doing planks with my arms extended over my head for 15 seconds. I can do four or five of these. Last night I mixed in moving my arms to different positions, trying to work a variety of mussles. I've also started doing a little weight lifing. Nothing to serious, but a few thing to streghenth my knees (squats/lunges), and my upper back. We'll see if it helps my climbing. I can do a 5.11b/c / 5.11b double without to much worry. I'd like to be able to peel off four .11's in a row.
In some wonderful news, my older brother passed the California State Bar. I am so happy for him. He's really happy doing what he's doing (intellictual property), it's been a very long road for him. I'd say it's been hard, and it has no doubt, but he is so dedicated and focused that I didn't have any doubt that he would pass. WAY TO GO ALEX!!!!
Life seems to making small, but measureable steps towards good for me. I'm concentrating on completing a project at work that is coming at a very diffcult time (the holidays), but I'm going to get it done.

When I get older.........

I'm going to learn how to do this:

I did stuff.........

It rained today. I guess it's the begining of that "season" in the BA. A few weeks ago we had a little rain and I decided to get new wipers for my car and some rain-x. I'd never used rain-x before and wasn't really sure that it worked, but I put it on my front, two side and rear window. Basically it causes the water to bead up and run off rather easily. I love having it on my car. Combined with the new wipers, I feel ustoppable in the rain. (perhaps this is why the CHP pulled me over for speeding last tuesday at 3:45am for doing 78 in a 65. WTF? There were three cars on the road: me, him, and the guy I passed. Just doing his job, I know. It was my first ticket in 11 years.)
On my way home from work I decided to stop at the Vill and get some groceries, I need some yogurt, carrots and a few other things. After I left, I realized that I hadn't gotten anything to eat for dinner tonight. Burrito. However, since I was going down to College Ave, I figured I'd swing by The Pasta Shop and get a few things for dinner later this week. I'm really starting to like this place. You can get FRESH pasta for $3.50/lb. When you buy, they ask how many sheets you want, then cut it for you. DAMN. Two weeks ago I got almost 2lbs of pasta and three sausages for $15. That fed four for dinner and then me for two more meals. Yummy!! Anyhow, I got some herb fettucine that I'll make with proscuitto and some Raviolis. After I left, I picked up a burrito for dinner. Sure, I'd only done a little of the weekly grocery shopping, but I accomplished things off the 'ole DO THIS list. I laughed to myself thinking about times that I had a list, had left something off of it, added it to the list after I finished it, just so I could cross it off. Hehehe. Stupid, juvenilee, sure, but I like doing stuff and finishing it. I'm usually horrible at this (see: my unfolded laundry, my un-done dishes ((that I'm lucky are not in my bed!!)), my just almost registered car, etc....you get the picture), so when I do something and finish it, it makes me feel good.
A few things that made me feel good yesterday. Juking out Tyler and nutmegging him (he spent 30 minutes trying to get me back), scoring a goal through Ricky's legs, dribbling around Rhaul and getting compliments on my ball control and yesterday's big accomplishment, doing my laundry and folding it all on the same day. Can I get a hell yea? OH YEA, I also got a new monitor for my computer, ditched the desktop, hooked the new monitor up to the laptop, removed the hard drive from the old desktop and attached that to the laptop (still not working, HELP!!). So I hope this is a trend for the future. More juking out people who are better than me at footie.
